MashAllah MashAllah MashAllah this place is incredible. The food here is amazing, it definitely different. The people that work here are unbelievable nice. It was my birthday dinner and I am so happy we spent it here. It a must try
So pleasantly surprised with the food... tasted exactly like the food we would have in the Middle East and cooked wonderfully! Restaurant is decorated tastefully and not over the top. Really enjoyed it with my family and it will be our new weekend dinner spot.
Just came in with friends from work clean place staff is friendly, like the drink and appetizer. I would recommend coming here
Finally!!!! A real authentic Mediterranean/middle eastern restaurant on the south shore. We have some of the best Italian restaurants but it's really all you can get out here. Anyway When I saw the coming soon sign I was skeptical because I'm Middle eastern and can tell when a place is just posing and serving people crap. But thank god the food here is actually very good and the owners are actually middle eastern. I started slow and walked in to order justone chicken shawerma (gyro) and one meat shawerma. The place is beautiful and The owner came out and greeted me. Spoke to me while my food was being prepared. He actually cares about his customers. He threw in several free samples so I can try them out. I got home and it was a bag full of food. Falafel, hummus, salad mahamamara and it was all fresh and delicious. I realized I forgot my credit card there and the worker actually delivered it to my house. If this place keeps up with the quality of food they put out today, they will be in business forever. We are definitely gonna be regulars here! Good luck on the new business.
Laila has a nice decor & the staff & owner are very attentive. The food was ok, not outstanding & they do not have a liquor license. The most delicious item was the pistachio mousse. It's a good place for kids & if you are not familiar with Mediterranean it's a nice place to sample some traditional foods.
Excellent food, great and friendly service, beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommended. Wanted to try a little bit of everything, so we ordered the mini pies (meat pie, spinach pie, and cheese pie) and the Laila Combo (hummus, baba ghanosh, labneh, and muhammara) appetizers. For entre's, my wife had Syrian Salmon and I had the Laila Mixed Grill (Kafta, shish kabab, and shish tawook). Kanafeh for dessert. All good portions, prepared well, and absolutely delicious! We plan to return.
Food was excellent. I went there when it first opened and the were still getting their feet under them. So nice and accommodating.
Fantastic food ! You can taste taste the freshness and the flavors are out of this world!!!! The best Mediterranean food on the island. The decor is very well done. Perfect for a date night.
Went here last night. Food was great! We got two appetizers and were even stuffed by the time our food came! We got there with no reservation around 8pm but the owner was incredibly nice and just asked if we minded waiting a bit to be seated. Service was great also. We will definitely be back with a reservation next time, there's so many things to try on the menu!
Today we visit Leila restaurant for first time and it was Amazing everyone loved this place Food was delicious especially kunaffa Thank you guys for a nice atmosphere and for your best service will definitely going to come back.
Wow! We are from the other side of island. Well worth the trip. Had the lamb. Outrageous ! We will be back!
Amazing food and amazing service. Every single dish was delicious. Definitely recommend trying the fattah.
This is an unbelievable middle eastern restaurant right off the outer bridge in Staten Island! Not only is the food delicious, it's a definite change from our everyday fair. Service is excellent and the owner very attentive. Plus it's a byo!
Great place: nice ambiance, very tasty food and great service. Is one of my favorite places on the Island.
It was definitely the best experience I've ever had with Mediterranian food! The owner of the place is such a sweet guy, and the stuff is really pleasant and nice. The food was beyond our expectations, especially their sauces. I do want their recipes !!
My family, who typically only eats Italian food went to Laila last weekend and could not have enjoyed our meal more! Every single menu item was delicious and the staff was so kind! We had such a wonderful experience!
This has to be one of the best places when it comes to middle eastern food on not only Staten Island, but in NYC/NJ. Every dish is so flavorful, with the right amount of spices and ingredients. Growing up in a middle eastern family, we are exposed to this style of cooking everyday, but when my family and I came to eat here, we were impressed.
The staff is amazing and the owner Alan and his wife are very kind, constantly making sure you are taken care of. Overall, this place is a game changer for Staten Island, as it brings new culture and great food to the community.
Highly recommended!
This spot has only been open for a month; yet I know it's going to do really well...
For starters the decor, vibe and layout immediately puts you at ease. It was a beautiful Spring day so the front area was open and it felt so relaxing and airy.
I went in for lunch and had the chicken kebab platter with sides. Saying l the food was Delicious is an understatement-it was so flavorful and fresh. All of the different spices and herbs created a party on my palette! And the actual owner served me and greeted all of his guests as they entered.
This will be my place to go this summer for sure. I will sit in the patio section next time-it's definitely a great addition to Staten Island!
I'm so glad to have Mediterranean food near by. I truly love this place, food is delicious!!!, but I mostly & truly appreciate their great service.
Place is beautiful. My wife and I came to eat lunch. Food was absolutely delicious and staff was very pleasant. So excited to have such a beautiful restaurant on the south shore of Staten Island. Our waitress was Mariam she was informative and sweet. We were told reservations for dinner are needed for the weekends. I'm sure it is packed here!! A total 5 star review!!!!!!!
Came here last night for our anniversary dinner. From the beginning we felt very welcomed, our waitress, Mariam, was not only extremely friendly but warm and helpful. She was accommodating and we learned we have a lot in common. We told her it was our 4 year wedding anniversary and 14 years together...I'll get to that later. Let's talk about the food! Everything from the complimentary olives to the appetizers were fresh and authentic. The food is made with love. The chef takes pride in the meals he creates. They keep the bread coming which is important, most establishments only give you one serving of bread. Let me tell you, the kibbeh is out of this world. Tastes like the one we eat at home, absolutely delicious. When it came time for dessert they brought us out the most yummy kanafeh with candles and played our song for us. They made us feel very special and made our day great! Amal the owner is the sweetest. We will most definitely be coming back. Our new favorite spot! Thanks for everything.
I had the eggplant dip that was a little too spicy for me. The hummus was lovely. I had some shrimp and enjoyed the taste. It's byob so it's great. No cork fee.
I heard nothing but great things about this place from my daughter who went to try it before me. I was highly recommended to come try it out because the food was said to be amazing. After trying it for myself, I can confirm that everything I heard was true. This place is definitely a good representation of authentic Syrian food. Will definitely be returning. The owner is a great guy as well. Very attentive and kind hearted.
Laila is a new addition on Page Ave, it's airy & open, love the way they bring the outdoors in by opening the wall of French doors when the weather cooperates. They are serious about food, it's Syrian/ Mediterranean. The grilled Quail is spot on, the salad it comes with is a perfect match, excellent potatoes & veggies round out a meal. Don't forget the homemade lemonade with mint sprig, it's an ideal accompaniment to this type of cuisine. The owner & staff couldn't be more helpful. They want to make sure your visit is memorable. Try the middle eastern desserts as a way to end a perfect meal. Although relatively new, the word is out about Laila, so, make a reservation or risk being disappointed.
The food here is fresh, authentic and delicious! The staff ate always helpful with the menu and kids are welcome here. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.
Stopped in for lunch with the girls and they didn't disappoint!! Appetizers were delicious especially the roasted pepper with walnut salad, lamb shish kebab was so tender as flavorful. Definitely coming back!
Great food good service definitely coming back
Finally a good Mediterranean spot in Si
Went for lunch- All I can say is the food was off the charts! I ordered a chicken with rice and a salad- so much flavor - it was made to perfection- if you like middle easterner food you will love this place- we ordered a sample platter of mixed dips- that to was delicious and so fresh- we also had a specialty dessert- that so was amazing!! You won't be disappointed when you try the food- looking forward to going back for dinner! And the staff was GREAT-
Been here 2x already and it gets better each time..the owner Alan is super friendly snd always welcomes you with a smile....the baba ganoush is pure pleasure and the best thin pita you will ever find...their chicken and lamb kebab wad incredible
..i will continue going and trying different dishes along the way..this plsce is great...our server Miriam was helpful and friendly as well as attentive...try it out....Batts loves this place..
This is probably the meat Mediterranean restaurant I have been to. A huge win and great addition in SI. Phenomenal food and very knowledgeable staff about the dishes. Very cozy decor, reasonable prices and it great that they have BYOB !!! Owner was very nice and came to our table to make sure the food was good. We will def be coming back and highly recommend!
Best Mediterranean restaurant you will find in NYC! Place is stunning, comfortable, service very nice and polite , and the FOOD is DELICIOUS !!!!!
Love love love! Came to Laila on Easter Sunday with my family and not only was it such a good time (there was a belly dancer and a really enthusiastic waiter singing happy birthday to multiple people and getting everyone involved by waving napkins around), but the food was delicious. The environment is fun and beautiful. The owner Allen is super friendly. There is a very nice outdoor area which I can def see being popular during the summer time. They are off to a very great start. Wishing the owner and family good luck and many years of delicious food to come !
My wife and I were very excited to hear that this restaurant opened on the south shore! We stopped in for lunch and it did not disappoint. Every dish had so much flavor. We really appreciated the effort that was put into our dishes. We have been so tired of the typical south shore Italian/sushi scene. During our meal we kept looking at the menu to see what we would order during our next visit. The decor was really nice and the authentic music sealed the deal for us. Alan the owner was a complete gentleman and really aimed to please. This was a real home run for us considering we just stopped for lunch! I wish this place the very best and look forward to dining here in the very near future!
Look like a family owned and operated very nice place the service was excellent
The food was very good definitely we going to comeback
Great place to get Mediterranean food on Staten Island. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy and decor was beautiful. The prices are also very reasonable and the portions are a nice size. Would definitely recommend!
Love love love this place. Foods great, everything came out fresh. The staff is friendly, the ambiance is beautiful and my kids loved the items on the kids menu. What else could you ask for? Laila is a win for Tottenville because we got so bored of the same old stuff out here. We are Limited to fast food, Italian, sushi or Asian.
I came here to celebrate Eid with my family and we couldn't have chosen a better spot! We've been to a lot of Middle Eastern restaurants but this place is a new favorite. It's a little bit pricier than our usual Levantinian places, but worth it for their perfectly delicious food, beautiful interior and very friendly staff.
The service and food at this Resturant is impeccable! The staff was so friendly and welcoming! The food was delicious flavorful, full of herbs and spices! I will definitely return to try the entire menu.
Let me start by saying you cant get food like this anywhere on staten island. Went there with my family and we all loved it. The food was delicious place is very clean service is good. We loved it so much cant wait to go back
Went in to try it out for the first time on Saturday about 5 pm.
Starter with a complimentary bread and olives marinated with lemons, oil, garlic and spices.
For apps we had more bread with hummus and babagonosh dips.
For dinner we ordered the mixed grill and whole fish.
Everything was very yummy and flavorful.
The owner made the recommendations and he was very nice. I would go back!
If you are looking for authentic Middle Eastern cuisine, Laila is the place to be! From first experience, our impression was wowed by the staff, the owner, Alan and the food, of course. We were greeted by a warm environment and were treated like family - the true Middle Eastern way. The would was so flavorful, so tender and the dessert, I almost bit my fingers off. My husband and I were given a complimentary Knafeh and it was so good! So nice to have a new experience in that area! Can't wait to go back for our next meal. A++, Laila
Laila is a huge win for the South Shore. A welcome addition to the whole slew of repeat restaurants we have access to on Page Ave and the surrounding area. Alan Dakhlallah is a cut above other Middle Eastern food chefs because he takes your typically common dishes and makes them better. He's also a Master Host, gliding from table to table to ensure that everyone feels welcome and to offer "try this" options on the house.
You'll check the menu, you'll order what you know and you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much better it tastes here versus other ME restaurants. BUT be sure to try everything he recommends. That will be the win for you and for him because next time you visit, you'll order it again and again. Hummus, yes. Awesome. But Hummus with freshly made Shwarma on top? Score!
Kibbeh, lamb-filled pockets of bulgher wheat that are deep-fried and fragrant with spices like cinnamon and cumin? Sure. Had them. Know them. Okay. Usually always dry everywhere else so I it's not a first choice for me, but when Alan shows up with a freshly made dish of Kibbeh that you didn't order, you must eat because he knows it's going to stupify you - moist, tender lamb inside a deep fried Kibbeh. It was amazing! A cut above everywhere else.
Kibbeh Naya - chopped, raw lamb brightened with fresh mint and served with fruity olive oil - is one of my favorite appetizers anywhere. It's hard to get it wrong until I tasted Laila's. It was so right and so much better that I realized it was wrong everywhere else. it's an acquired taste but if you can get past the idea of eating "raw lamb" like you do sushi, go for it.
Whole fish Branzini is amazing. The mixed grill - another common ME restaurant item - better here than anywhere else. And you can't go wrong with any appetizer. Expand your horizons and go. You won't be sorry. At the very least, Alan will make sure you have a great time.
Amazing! Came as a group of 4. Ordered Boraks and Toshkas with chicken and meat for appetizers. We also ordered a variety of dishes with lamb, chicken and eggplant. Best experience ever! The food came out so hot, colorful and smelling delicious! Tasted out of this world. Keep in mind, this is Syrian cuisine...not the typical Turkish dishes some are used to.
The restaurant is BYOB. They do not have a bar.
The owners are the friendliest, most accommodating hosts ever! They make you feel like family.
We will definitely be back!
Updated review. Originally I went for lunch when they just opened. Today I tried it again about a month later with a group and WOW. Phenomenal!
The Laila combo was delicious, way better than many other middle eastern spots I have tried.
Got to try the lamb sausage app it was delicious. For main course we got the mixed grill and lamb chops cooked perfectly. We got the Kanafa and pistachio cheesecake which we all raved about. Excellent friendly service.
Laila is delicious Middle Eastern food. Staff is very friendly. We have had many items on the menu. The appetizers are still our favorite. Almost as good and my grandmother's cooking.
Amazing from the 20 different appetizers, we were served to the main course of open fire roasted beef, chicken and pork prepared with the best herbs and quality ingredients. The colors the taste the texture's what a feast both for the eyes and for the palate.
The wait staff was clean friendly and knowledgeable and respectful, until the end We we're delighted. Our waiter suggested the coffee it was delicious hit the spot with a Special Dessert the Chef made just for us, delicious. Well done Laila you will be seeing a lot of us and our friends and family, and my followers.
Highly suggested, clean, friendly and Amazing food.
Wonderful, delicious and fresh food! If you are in the mood for something different in staten island here if your spot! All the spreads like Hummus, babaganoush are so fresh! The meat platters are amazing too. Come here hungry and you'll leave full. Very clean place and pretty on the inside.
Good for a date!
Alan and Amal thank you so much for opening this amazing restaurant on Staten Island It is very welcoming and generous place You feel like home here Even on the weekend when the place is very busy they make sure that everybody is happy with their food and service The busy means good people keep coming back to this place for the good reason. The food is beyond the delicious and service is excellent as well i am keep coming back Love it Thank you so much Vladimir
The best example of what happens when you open a place and run it with pure love. Great food, great service, great ambience!
Highly recommended if you live in Staten Island!
This place is a gem!
If you're looking for authentic Middle Eastern food that is made fresh to order, finger licking good, and great hospitality then look no further on this Island. You will not be dispointed, and will walk way extremely pleased.
This restaurant is located in a shopping strip with valet parking. You can be seated outdoor or inside. The elegance of this restaurant shows with the Middle Eastern decorations, table layouts, furniture, and chandeliers. To top it off the staff is super friendly, smiles so bright, accommodating, and hospitable.
Came here an hour before they closed, and it felt like they just opened up for the day. The staff were enthusiastic to have me come in regardless of the time. I even stayed almost a half hour after they were closing up. They did not rush me out either. It just our waitress, it every staff that passed by my table would check in (with a smile) to see if I needed anything else. That's so nice to see, and does not happen in many restaurants.
As to the food. The menu is diverse with many great dishes, and some unique creations I've never experienced before. Every dish was fresh and delicious. It was not the leftover of the day that was sitting out for awhile. All of the meat in the mixed meat platter was tender that a knife was not needed for cutting. It was also very delicious and flavorfully marinated with their unique spices.
The kanafeh desert is a must! Just take a look at the video, and you'll see what I mean. It's a masterpiece.
You can tell they put out only the best no matter what time you come in to eat. Plus, they have a pretty big menu with many delicious items. Coming back again is a must to try out more items. This is a restaurant I can see myllsef coming to at least once a week.
FYI:
-BYOB
-Not one dish I had was soggy, old, tough, rubbery, etc.
-If you choose to not do the valet you can park across the street along the fence, but be careful of the oncoming traffic when crossing.
For 45 years I have looked for this.
Clean, hospitable, big delicious appetizing menu.
Owner Alan is a hands on gentleman.
I had Fatouch, kufta kabab, Borak, falafel, and then we were treated to a brand new item( stuffed eggplant with minced meat and deliciousness.
It was then topped of with their signature kunafa. Just WOW.
This is a real find.
Will be back Inshallah
Great atmosphere, great staff (patient too!), The food is excellent and not too expensive either.
We order the shrimp, salmon and I had the tilapia (which was amazing!)
Amazing! Came as a group of 4. Ordered Boraks and Toshkas with chicken and meat for appetizers. We also ordered a variety of dishes with lamb, chicken and eggplant. Best experience ever!
